I have had the idea to do a thistle for a wee while now, since I came across the lovely purpley shade and the pale green of some of the compact discs I was smashing and using. The colours struck me as being particularly Scottish and reflective of the flora we often get here.
It has taken several different attempts, but none that felt comfortable - they seemed too forced before - but this one, on a slighly larger scale than normal for me, seemed to work out ok. It's obviously only an impression, and not anatomically or rather botanically accurate, but hey - who cares?!
Whether or not I can ever replicate another similar version remains to be seen, but I am quite pleased to have got this one out of my cluttered head and into reality at last.
I'll get this framed up and available for sale soon, so if you are interested in buying it, or one like it, please do get in touch.
